Ballads of Bengal
The district of North 24 Parganas and Bengal where the university is situated has a very rich history and a glorious past. Starting from the significant excavation sites of ancient Bengal (Chandraketugarh) to the towering monuments of the medieval times (Jatardeul, deep inside the Sundarbans) or the modern architecture of the colonial times (Clive House) — Bengal is an indisputable flag-bearer of India’s rich historical, cultural, and educational legacy. A glimpse of the same is beautifully portrayed within the walls of the museum—Ballads of Bengal, set up in June 2019 within the West Bengal State University campus. The museum is a journey through the history to modern-day Bengal politics, education, and culture. It aims to preserve and showcase the rich heritage of the district of North 24 Parganas and Bengal and reinforce the cause of education in young minds.
Dr. Sushanta Banerjee of the Department of Library and Information Science is the present Director of the Museum.
